The old Victorian vicarage has stood empty for over a decade in the village of Filius. With rumours of its haunted past, everyone stays away...well, almost everyone!
Ten-year-old Catherine Rose has become obsessed with the rundown ruin and makes daily diary entries about its only surviving inhabitant, Clever Crow.
When twelve-year-old Matthew Khan and his dad move into the vicarage, Catherine's obsession increases. Before too long, the newfound friendship traps them both into a cruel world mastered by the clever crow himself.
As their fight for survival starts, they must discover the secrets that are hidden deep within the darkness and uncover the truth behind Crow and his precious vicarage.
The only question is...
Will you dare to delve into the darkness with them?
Dear Victoria,
I know that you have a very busy schedule whilst you are becoming a FANTASTIC author but please take a minute to read this letter. I'm Phoebe Williams, aged 9, and you have recently visited my school. I am in year 4 at Christ Church Charnock Richard C.E. Primary school. I really enjoyed having you at my school! I have just finished your fantastic book, Darkmoor:The Darkness Discovered!
As I said before, it was fantastic!!! I loved how imaginative it is! I also enjoyed hearing what was happening in Catherine-Rose and Mathew's life. I thought it was great, how Catherine's life changed since Mathew moved into the tatty old house she loved. I can't wait to collect the other Darkmoor books.
I have one thing to ask(or tell!!!) you. If you ever need someone to test your books before they get released, you now know who to ask!!! Maybe me? I love reading and writing books(sometimes I get ideas from books like yours!!!) and when I'm older I also hope to be an author!!! You gave my school friends and I lots of tips and I would love to get some more! I would also appreciate it if you could give me some ideas for my next story. I'd really love it if I could see you once again as well.
- Yours truly Phoebe Williams"
"...I found this to be a captivating read and thoroughly enjoyable. More
importantly, so did my ten year old son who read it from start to finish
within a couple of days, and announced that it was "excellent!". It is
'dark' enough for its intended audience without being too scary, but manages
to do so without being patronizing. A nice little surprise at the end too,
which I won't spoil. A brilliant read. Well done, I look forward to
reading the next in the series..."
